Who We Are
Our Mission
The mission of United Ministries of Savannah: Emmaus House is to collaborate with the community to provide hearty meals and basic needs services to the hungry and homeless in Savannah GA.
Community Impact
Emmaus House served over 43,000 meals to over 1,000 homeless and hungry men, women and children in 2017. Our laundry and shower facilities were used over 2,000 times during the year. We regularly give out hygiene kits, coats, jackets, scarves, hats and gloves and provide blankets, pillows and sleeping bags.
What We Do
Emmaus House is located in the Parish House of Christ Church Episcopal at the corner of Bryan and Abercorn Streets. Founded in 1982 by a group of downtown churches, Emmaus House provides food and day services to the homeless and needy of Savannah. We sustain our service to the homeless community today with the help of our Executive Chef Freda, our Clinic Supervisor Wayne, and our Dining Hall Assistant Gary. We could not make the impact that we do without our many dedicated volunteers.
Breakfast is served at 8:30 a.m. Monday through Friday, fifty weeks each year. All are welcome. Day services include washer and dryer, shower and rest room facilities and the distribution of hygiene kits. Emmaus House is funded primarily through area churches, United Way, local businesses, private foundations and dedicated individuals.
