Who We Are

Keep Chatham Beautiful Mission Statement:  To engage individuals to take greater responsibility for the Chatham County environment. By:

  • Encouraging individuals to become engaged stewards of the environment
  • Using education to improve awareness of the environment,
  • Engaging volunteers to improve the community environment, and
  • Partnering with community alliances, both public and private, to achieve sustainable improvement.

KCB has many opportunities for residents to volunteer their time and expertise to help with beautification projects, litter removal projects, and recycle projects throughout the year.

Volunteers are needed for the monthly Litter Patrol campaigns. So far, resident volunteers have picked up a total of 944 lbs. of trash and 582 lbs. of recyclables during the Litter Patrol cleanup events throughout the County.

Volunteers are needed to help with the Re-VISION ART & ECO FESTIVAL at Forsyth Park.

Volunteers are needed for the two Data Destruction Days (May & Nov). These are free paper shredding days for residents of the County. Approximately 1,000 vehicles drive through the gates each day.

Volunteers will be needed as the first “Project Pride” highway beautification projects gets underway later this year.

What We Do

 

Formed in 2012, Keep Chatham Beautiful is a is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization focused on litter prevention, beautification and community greening, and waste reduction and recycling.  We are an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, an organization dedicated to encouraging residents to take greater responsibility for improving their environment.

The Board of Directors consists of 23 community leaders, representing residents, government and industry. There are also three Advisory Board Members from the government and the business community. Officers for the new Board include President, Rick Hamilton, Weyerhaeuser; Vice-President, Elaine Barnard, Beautification Committee of Garden City; Secretary, Chantel Morton, Better Hometown Program Coordinator of Tybee Island; and Treasurer, Joe Wilson, Director of Public Works, Tybee Island.
