November is National Diabetes Awareness Month and a time for everyone to assess their risk for developing prediabetes or type II diabetes. Following a year of reduced activity dur to COVID-19, statistics show prediabetes rates are on the rise. Currently, 88 million American adults (more than 1 in 3!) have prediabetes, but less than 16 percent know that they have it. In addition to the increased risk of developing type II diabetes, people with prediabetes are also at risk of developing other chronic diseases such as heart disease and stroke. Join us at the Habersham Y on November 20 for free screenings, beginning at 9 a.m.!
