Description

The Point-in-Time count is a count of sheltered and unsheltered people experiencing homelessness on a single night in January. HUD requires that Continuums of Care conduct annual count of people experiencing homelessness who are sheltered in emergency shelter, transitional housing, and Safe Havens on a single night. Continuums of Care also must conduct a count of unsheltered people experiencing homelessness every other year. Each count is planned, coordinated, and carried out locally. HUD provides PIT count reports of sheltered and unsheltered persons experiencing homelessness, by household type and subpopulation. This data is available at the national and state level, and for each CoC.

Chatham Savannah Authority for the Homeless leads the Point in Time count efforts- volunteers are vital to a successful count. This year, our annual PIT Count will take place on January 26, 2023.  Please consider joining us for mandatory training and technical assistance Each volunteer must attend a mandatory training before the actual event. The trainings will take place on December 7th and January 12th. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact CSAH.
