Volunteer: Volunteer with Adult Learners at Royce Learning Center
Are you interested in helping adult learners in one or more of the following areas: test taking skills, reading, math, spelling, writing, basic computer literacy, ESOL?
The Adult & Community Education (ACE) Program at Royce Learning Center is always seeking volunteers to work on an on-going basis with our adult learners as facilitators of learning, encouraging them to set and attain their goals.
Volunteers help adult learners of all ages and abilities prepare for anything from learning how to read, basic math/budgeting skills, and computer skills to studying for the General Education Development Diploma (GED) or Workplace promotion tests, and more.
No teaching experience is necessary, but a desire to be a supportive and active participant in their journey is a must. Teachers and tutors are on site during the classes and Zoom. Volunteer tutors work with each learner to develop an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) that targets their needed skill(s). Volunteers help by providing one-to-one support alongside the teachers and other tutors. A tutor training workshop for new volunteers is provided by Royce every semester.
