Savannah Speech & Hearing has offered free hearing screenings to our community since 1954.
Hearing screenings are essential to identifying hearing loss and ensuring that it be properly addressed.
Join us in offering these simple screenings in our local schools. We cannot do it without the help of volunteers!
And it's FUN!
- Screenings are conducted with simple, portable audiometers. The use of these audiometers is explained in a quick training in person. Please also watch this video for an overview: https://youtu.be/Xcx1U6qgV1o?si=_X7SOvAouTOlBomJ
- Screenings are done Monday through Thursday in the mornings at public and private schools in both Chatham and Bryan counties. Volunteer one day or several - all help is appreciated!
- All screenings are arranged and supervised by staff of the Savannah Speech & Hearing Center - you will not be on your own!
- Our season starts August 5th, with our greatest need for help August - September, with a few more schools throughout October and November.
Prior to assignment, a no cost mandatory background check will be done. Additional information may be requested.
Offering these screenings in schools is a pleasure - the school nurses are so grateful and the kids are CUTE! Our longtime volunteers are wonderful people, so you will be in good company. Join us!
Thank you!
