Senior Citizens, Inc. (SCI) needs committed volunteers like you to help with our monthly mailings, filing in various departments, and/or occasional receptionist duties at the front. Your contribution in these tasks, such as mailings of activity calendars, menus, and newsletters twice a month, is crucial to our community.

The Front Porch offers after-school tutoring, Monday through Friday, for students ages 6 to 17. Sessions usually occur between the hours of 3:30pm to 5:00pm, with hours extended to 7:00pm on Thursday evenings. Most of our students need help with basic math and reading skills. Volunteers do not need to be trained as academic tutors, but they should be able to connect well with children and commit to a consistent weekly schedule. 

The Ronald McDonald Family Room located in St. Joseph/Candler Hospital is looking for volunteers to help maintain the facility. Responsibilities would include maintaining a clean facility, and checking families in who wish to visit and utilize the facility.

Hours are Sunday 1-4pm, Monday through Friday 12-3pm and 3-6pm, Saturday 10am-1pm and 1-4pm. (3 Hour Shifts)

The Ronald McDonald Family Rooms are located in both Memorial University Medical Center. We are looking for volunteers who are great hosts/hostesses as the responsibilities would include maintaining a clean facility and checking families in who wish to visit and utilize the facility.

Volunteers are the heartbeat of our House! Volunteer opportunities include assisting families and staff at the House.

General office work (answering door, phone, etc.) and a variety of tasks around the House such as answering the doors, replenishing supplies, inspecting rooms, as well as light housekeeping.

The ReStore Assistant works with staff to process incoming donations. Below are some common tasks that may be performed by the donations assistant; however, we welcome volunteers to help in whichever areas they feel most proficient.

Package, label, and price incoming donations

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Volunteers are a vital part of services rendered by Mary's Place. Each year they handle hundreds of phone calls made to our 24-hour crisis help-line and provide direct assistance to survivors and their loved ones. In addition, they often serve as the first point of contact, when a victim reports a crime of rape. 

Volunteering with Mary's Place is an opportunity to become an active part of the current fight to end sexual violence. In addition to a valuable and personal worthwhile experience, volunteering also allows you to gain valuable knowledge and experience working within the social services and legal continuum.

Crisis Line Advocacy

Crisis Line Advocates listen to, believe and support every survivor while educating her or him about options and resources available to them. Our call-forwarding system allows volunteers to take shifts and respond to calls from their home.

Hospital Advocacy

Hospital Advocates provide immediate in-person support to survivors of rape and sexual abuse from the emergency department and work in tandem with Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners and law enforcement, during the initial investigative process.

Mary's Place serves 7 counties in the coastal region and operates 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year: including weekend and holidays.  On-call volunteer shifts are offered in 12- or 24-hour increments. All volunteers must submit to a drug screen, criminal background check and must have reliable transportation.

A Court Appointed Special Adocate (CASA) volunteer advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children. Bringing urgency to a child’s needs, both in and out of the courtroom, CASA volunteers promote safety, permanency and well-being through independent recommendations. As community partners in the child welfare system, CASA volunteers increase abused and neglected children’s access to services (including educational and health needs), promote safety, and advocate for timeliness and permanency for children involved in juvenile court proceedings. CASA volunteers are independent advocates and provide individualized attention for children in a massive state system.

CASA Ogeechee is always recruiting volunteers to serve as CASAs in Bulloch, Screven, Jenkins and Effingham.

Each night in our coastal community, there are children sleeping on floors, couches, chairs or sharing beds with multiple family members. The YMCA of Coastal Georgia believes that all kids deserve a space to call their own and a place to dream.

On November 16, 2019, the YMCA, in partnership with the Housing Authority of Savannah, launched A Place to Dream. The launch date began by providing 28 beds, full sheet and comforter sets along with bags filled with toys, books and stuffed animals to 13 families in our local Savannah community.

Two Rivers Health Clinic is a free clinic for adults ages 18-64 in Rincon, Georgia. The clinic is fully run by volunteer providers, nurses and other support staff. Two Rivers currently is in need of volunteer RNs, LPNS or Medical Assistants. Clinic is held 2 Wednesday evenings per month in Rincon at the clinic. Clinic hours are from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Park Place Outreach is seeking Volunteer Coordinator to assist with recruiting, training, scheduling and coordinating the use of volunteers to support agency operational services.

Park Place Outreach is seeking a Volunteer Admin to support agency front office operations. Duties include greeting visitors, answering calls,  creation and filing of documents, and other administrative duties as necessary. 

A CASA volunteer is appointed by a Chatham County Juvenile Court Judge to watch over and advocate for abused and neglected children, to make sure they don’t get lost in the overburdened legal and social service system or languish in an inappropriate group or foster home. They stay with each case until it is closed and the child is placed in a safe, permanent home. For many abused children, their CASA volunteer will be the one constant adult presence.

Because children are often unable to provide a voice for themselves during this critical and difficult time of their life, a CASA volunteer makes it possible to be their voice by advocating on their behalf.

Dinner is a special time in homes throughout the South, and Park Place Outreach is no different.  We are looking for volunteers to provide dinner to our youth residents and staff for up to 10 people.  All food must be commercially prepared from a restaurant, grocery store, or other commercial food establishment.  Food should be dropped off at 5:30 ready to eat (not frozen or raw).

The Emmaus House Clothing Closet is located on the 3rd floor of Christ Church Episcopal. Every Wednesday at 10am we distribute gently used clothing to our clients- individuals who are unsheltered and experiencing homelessness. We receive donations of casual clothing from the community, and these clothes are sorted by community members every Tuesday morning from 9:30am until around 11:30am

Our clothing closet needs quite a bit of TLC. We have bags and bags of unsorted clothing that has accumulated, and we need your help to sort and organize it all so that our Wednesday team can distribute.

Volunteers are a vital component of One Love Animal Rescue, helping us with everything from the day-to-day tasks of caring for animals, adoption follow-ups, paperwork behind the scenes, to assisting at special events, and helping raise funds for our vital programs. Volunteer to provide small home repair service needs. The need may be a simple repair, replacement, maintenance, or a small plumbing (e.g., minor leak repair) task. The goal is same day fulfillment of the request.

If you are interested in advocating for Mental Health within your community, then hosting a clothing drive is a great way to give back (without having to jump through all those paperwork hoops!).

GRHS has a population of 85% male and 15% female patient population, and we are consistently in need of adult clothing. The hospital provides basic items, but our patients feel more comfortable in jeans, sneakers, jackets, etc of their own. These items can be brand new or gently used. We are usually in need of male clothing the most, as well as shoes or jackets. As the seasons change so does the need. For example: October we need coats, April we need shorts.

Please contact me via email if you are interested in hosting a clothing drive to gather items to meet the needs within your community. Any items we cannot, or are considered contraband for our patients, are donated to other local organizations (so no donation is wasted or thrown away!).

The Humane Society for Greater Savannah needs dog walkers! Exercised pups are happier, healthier, and more adoptable. We're looking for people that can dedicate at least 10 hours per month for 6 months. First-time volunteers will attend an orientation and complete a dog walk training. Responsible for welcoming and orienting new patients and their loved ones to Hospice Savannah's inpatient facility. Provides companionship and support  to them and may also assist staff with tasks. Full training (after orientation) will be provided.

Volunteers sign up for one (or more) two-hour shift each week. Volunteers are mostly at Hospice House between 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., seven days a week.

Public Outreach (and Emergency Operations Support) Team

Individuals on this team will have the opportunity to attend community presentations and outreach events, including the annual Chatham County Hurricane Conference. In addition, we are also starting two new initiatives: "You Are the Help Until Help Arrives" and the American Red Cross Pillowcase Project. Both initiatives involve direct outreach to Chatham County residents. Volunteers on this team will also have the chance to participate in the Emergency Operations Center during a phone operations activation. With the amount of natural disasters impacting our area lately, this is a very active group that will surely allow you to make a direct impact on the residents of Chatham County.

LIFE, Inc. is looking for a driver for their Independent Living Coordinator. The role of the driver will be to transport the Living Coordinator to consumer’s homes/ places of residence in an 11 county region and back to the office.  The LIFE Inc. office is located at: 5105 Paulson St. Savannah, GA. This may require the individual to obtain a chauffeur license/ permit from the GA DMV. The driver will need car insurance. The driver will be reimbursed for gas. Pricing will depend on how much fuel it takes to make the trip. Meals will not be provided.

Living Independence for Everyone (LIFE), Inc. is a Center for Independent Living (CIL) that serves the following counties in Southeast Georgia: Bryan, Bulloch, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Evans, Glynn, Liberty, McIntosh, Tattnall and Toombs.  CILs are service and advocacy organizations run by and for people with disabilities. We focus on civil rights, the independent living philosophy, and inclusion. All Centers provide individual and systems advocacy, information and referral, peer support, independent living skills training, and transition services. The primary goal of LIFE is to give the right tools to individuals with disabilities so they can become as independent and as fully involved in their community as they want to be.

Each weekday morning Emmaus House serves a hot hearty meal to the unsheltered and otherwise hungry residents of Savannah. We are blessed to have volunteers who come and serve each meal each day. Unfortunately, after the breakfast meal is served and volunteers go home, we are left in need of help to clean.

We need 2nd shift volunteers to help clear tables, wipe them down, sweep the floor and mop. This is a need that we have Monday - Thursday 50 weeks out of the year.

~ The ideal volunteer would be available from 2:00 - 5:00PM and able to commit to consistent hours although we can be flexible. ~

Assists our staff with clerical duties such as typing, data entry, filing, bulk mailings, or phone calling. We have administrative volunteers in every department - HR, medical records, admissions, etc. Our administrative volunteers work 2-hours shifts (or longer) during regular business hours at Hospice House.

Provides companionship and support to the homecare patients and their family members in the patient's home. Will provide a two to three hour break for the caregiver. Will receive training and support before being with patients.

Homecare volunteers can also visit our patients in nursing homes and assisted living facilities.

To help with the day to day care of the dogs and cats in our program. 

Need to be detail oriented and care for animals

Our mission is to save and care for the animals. 

As a camp volunteer you will feed, walk, play and care for the dogs. We also clean up after them everyday

Are you a dolphin lover? Could you watch dolphins all day long? Then there is a volunteer opportunity for you!

The Dolphin Project, Inc. is where scientists and volunteers came together to count the dolphins and photograph their dorsal fins (comparable to a human fingerprint for identification). These actions help monitor the health of the dolphins which are the sentinel species of their estuarine environment. Since we share this environment, the well-being of these dolphins impacts our well-being too.
