The Georgia Region Duty officer acts as a dispatcher for our Disaster Action Team (DAT) responses. When an individual or family is displaced by a fire, storm or other emergencies, The team provides comfort and support by assisting with access to shelter, clothing, food, and comfort.

The American Red Cross brings light to one of the darkest times that any family will endure. The Duty Officer:

1.     May determine if Red Cross action is required; may decide if Red Cross will respond via the Disaster Action Team (DAT).

2.     Uses event triggers such as size, scope, and type of the event to direct the DAT response.

3.     Works with on-scene DAT leadership to support the response and provide technical guidance.

4.     Support and trains new Duty Officers.

5.     Volunteer for 8-hour shift, at least twice a month.
