Support the Grace House kitchen staff by assisting with meal preparation, serving meals, washing dishes, cleaning work areas, stocking supplies, and helping maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming kitchen and dining environment. Assist with basic food preparation, including chopping and dicing large quantities (i.e. 50 lb. bags), and food packaging. Assisting kitchen personnel with line service Maintaining safe and sanitary food handling and service procedures Serving clients in a pleasant, courteous, and professional manner Cleaning the kitchen and dining area before and after food service Emptying and changing trash receptacles during and after meal service

Help restore dignity and hope by serving our neighbors experiencing homelessness at Union Mission's Resource Center. As a Shower & Hospitality Assistant, you'll help ensure guests have access to clean, safe shower facilities while creating a welcoming environment where every person is treated with compassion and respect.

Responsibilities:

Welcome guests and assist with the shower sign-in process. Prepare shower rooms by stocking clean towels, toiletries, and hygiene supplies. Clean and sanitize shower facilities between guests and throughout your shift. Sweep, mop, wipe down surfaces, and help maintain a clean and sanitary shower area. Assist with laundering towels and replenishing supplies as needed. Help create a safe, organized, and dignified experience for every guest. Interact with guests in a friendly, respectful, and nonjudgmental manner while maintaining confidentiality.

Requirements:

Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. Comfortable performing light cleaning and sanitation tasks. Able to stand, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds. Dependable, compassionate, and committed to serving individuals experiencing homelessness. No experience is necessary—training will be provided.

By volunteering in the Resource Center, you'll help provide more than just a shower—you'll offer comfort, dignity, and encouragement to individuals taking steps toward stability and a brighter future.

Position Summary

The Laundry Volunteer plays an important role in maintaining a clean, safe, and dignified environment for Day Center guests by assisting with the washing, drying, folding, and distribution of clothing.

Key Responsibilities

Sort, wash, dry, and fold client clothing and shelter linens Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry area Accept and label laundry with client name and date received Ensure proper handling of linens, including bedding and towels Assist with distributing clean clothing and linens to guests as needed Monitor laundry supplies and notify staff when items are running low Follow safety and sanitation guidelines when operating laundry equipment

Qualifications

Ability to perform light to moderate physical activity (standing, lifting, bending) Dependable and able to work independently Attention to detail and organizational skills Respectful, compassionate, and nonjudgmental attitude toward individuals experiencing homelessness Must be at least [insert age requirement, if applicable]

As a Meal Serving Volunteer, you will play a crucial role in serving nutritious and satisfying meals to individuals in need. Your responsibilities will involve assisting in the distribution and clean-up of meals at the Parkers House. This volunteer position offers you an opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of those who may be working to move on to stable housing. Volunteers strengthen the well-being of the residents through fellowship and social interaction.  Volunteers under the age of 18 must have an adult supervisor with them at all times.

TASKS: 

Meal Distribution:

Help with the setup of serving stations and dining areas. Greet and welcome clients in a friendly and respectful manner. Serve meals to individuals ensuring that proper portions are distributed.

Interact and Engage:

Interact with the clients with empathy and kindness. Be attentive to their needs, offer a listening ear, and provide support when required.

Maintain Order and Safety:

Ensure order and discipline during meal service to create a positive and comfortable atmosphere. Address any issues or concerns in a professional and respectful manner.

Clean-up and Sanitization:

Assist in clearing tables, collecting used dishes, and cleaning the dining area after meal service. Follow sanitation protocols to maintain a clean and safe environment.

Teamwork and Collaboration:

Collaborate effectively with other volunteers, staff, and coordinators to ensure smooth meal service operations. Communicate any challenges or suggestions to improve the meal serving process.

Confidentiality:

Respect the privacy and confidentiality of the individuals you serve, and refrain from sharing personal information without cons

Physical Abilities: Ability to stand for extended periods, carry trays, and perform light lifting when necessary. Time Commitment: Be punctual and committed to the agreed-upon schedule for meal serving shifts. Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to changing situations and tasks as needed during meal service. Responsibilities:

Clothing Organization: Sort, categorize, and organize donated clothing items based on size, gender, and type. Keep the clothing closet tidy and well-maintained for easy accessibility.

Client Assistance: Greet and assist clients visiting the clothing closet, helping them find suitable clothing items based on their needs and preferences.

Donations Processing: Accept and process incoming clothing donations, ensuring they meet the organization's guidelines for cleanliness and usability.

Clothing Distribution: Assist clients in selecting clothing items and guide them through the process of accessing the clothing closet respectfully and discreetly.

Client Support: Offer a compassionate and understanding approach to clients, ensuring they feel valued and respected while accessing the clothing closet.
