The Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire is currently seeking support for their Youth Programs. Volunteers would support Peer Mediators, the Positive Peer Influencer Program and encourage local youth to develop the skills to resolve conflict successfully. Free training is available.

- Peer Mediators are students trained to listen and help fellow students develop solutions to conflicts. These students help make their respective schools more peaceful places to learn and grow.
- The Positive Peer Influencer Program is an innovative program made possible through a collaboration between The Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire, Savannah-Chatham County Public School System and the Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team. The program is designed to help local teens make healthy choices and to educate them to the dangers of fentanyl. Positive Peer Influencers (PPIs) are trained high school students who act as positive influences on local middle school students by modeling good decision-making, speaking about how to navigate peer pressure, discussing the potential consequences of bad decisions and offering advice about how to make healthy life choices. The Positive Peer Influencer program is designed to encourage students to have courageous conversations and to create conditions that allow students to be influenced in constructive ways. PPIs are trained to speak to other students about positive decision making, strategies to respond to peer pressure and the dangers of fentanyl. The goal is to equip young people with the tools they need to make positive decisions that set them up for a bright, healthy future.

Key Responsibilities:
- Support Peer Mediators: Assist trained student mediators in facilitating peer mediation sessions, helping fellow students develop solutions to conflicts and create a more peaceful school environment.
- Encourage Positive Peer Influencers: Collaborate with participants in the Positive Peer Influencer Program, mentoring teens as they engage with middle school students. Help facilitate discussions on healthy decision-making and effective strategies for handling peer pressure.
- Promote Conflict Resolution Skills: Organize and participate in workshops or activities designed to teach local youth essential conflict resolution and communication skills.

The Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire is currently seeking Restorative Conferencing Facilitators. Restorative Conferencing is a restorative justice process for members of the community and parties affected by an incident to discuss what occurred, identify how they were affected and work together to define a better path forward. These volunteers will help resolve conflict in local schools by facilitating Community Conferences and divert students from the juvenile court system. Free training is available.

- Facilitate Community Conferences in local schools, guiding participants through the restorative process.
- Create a safe and inclusive environment for all parties to share their perspectives and feelings.
- Help identify the issues contributing to conflicts and work towards collaborative solutions.
- Support students in developing accountability and understanding the impact of their actions.
- Collaborate with educators, counselors, and community organizations to ensure successful outcomes.

The Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire is currently seeking volunteer mediators to mediate cases for State, Magistrate, Probate and Superior Court. These volunteers help parties save time, money and stress by reaching an agreement without litigation. Volunteers will be required to complete General Civil Mediation Training.

- Facilitate mediation sessions for various case types, including civil disputes, family matters, and small claims.
- Guide parties through the mediation process, making sure that all voices are heard and fostering open communication.
- Assist in identifying common ground and exploring mutually beneficial solutions.
- Maintain a neutral and impartial stance, promoting a collaborative environment for resolution.
- Document agreements and ensure that all parties understand the terms before concluding sessions.

The Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire is currently seeking volunteers to manage virtual mediation sessions using Zoom, Google Workspace and Adobe Sign and troubleshoot technology issues. Free training is available.

- Set up and manage virtual mediation sessions, ensuring a smooth experience for all participants.
- Provide real-time technical support during sessions, addressing any issues that may come up.
- Collaborate with mediators to prepare and share documents via Google Workspace and Adobe Sign.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while supporting mediators and clients.
- Help with the onboarding of new users, guiding them through the technology.

Combat Boots 2 The Boardroom (CB2TB) is seeking a Marketing & Communications Volunteer to help strengthen our community outreach and visibility. This short-term role is perfect for someone with a passion for storytelling, design, and digital media who wants to make a big impact in just a few hours.

Responsibilities

Assist with creating and scheduling social media content to promote CB2TB programs and events

Design or edit flyers, newsletters, and promotional materials

Draft short blog posts or spotlight articles highlighting our veterans, families, and youth initiatives

Provide light support in SEO and Google Ads optimization to increase online visibility

Help brainstorm creative ways to engage donors, volunteers, and community partners

Skills & Qualifications

Strong written communication and creative thinking skills

Familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)

Basic design skills (Canva or similar tools) a plus

Interest in nonprofits, community service, or veteran support work

No professional experience required—just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn!
