Savannah Interagency Diversity Council

Who We Are

Who are the Savannah Interagency Diversity Council?

In 2013, several Savannah-based federal employees formed the SIDC to combine their efforts to support diversity and inclusion within their agencies and in our community. We have grown steadily ever since. As the first organization of its kind, the SIDC is a model organization for other cities, counties and states.

SIDC members meet monthly to plan projects to enhance appreciation of social diversity in Savannah and promote understanding and inclusion of all Savannah area residents. We believe this helps build strong individuals, families and communities.

The Mission of the Savannah Interagency Diversity Council:

  • Create strategies that encourage an understanding of race, color, religion, sex, gender, national origin, age, disability and genetic information.
  • Develop initiatives to increase diversity awareness within the federal government.
  • Provide opportunities within the university system for students to express their views and offer suggestions to encourage strong relationships among diverse student groups.
  • Develop and support programs and events that increase appreciation of diversity in the local community and promote a better undertanding of cultures, races, gender and individuals with disabilities.

What We Do

The Savannah Interagency Diversity Council (SIDC) develops strategies to encourage inclusion and increase awareness of diversity in federal, state and local governments; schools, colleges and universities; private organizations, and local community. Membership levels in the SIDC are "Active" and "Supporter". Members work together to foster a greater understanding of race, ethnicity, gender, age, religion, sexual orientation, and physical disabilities.
