United Way of the Coastal Empire’s mission to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of the community. This simply means we match the needs of our community, to the resources of the community. As an advocator focused on Economic Independence, Education and Health & Wellness, United Way is continuously monitoring the ever changing needs of our community. We collaborate with local businesses, human service organizations and nonprofits to offer the most comprehensive resources available to our Effingham community.
The Service Center hosts more than 25 local groups and agencies that collectively address the needs of our community and minimizes transportation barriers for local residents. Today, the following United Way affiliated organizations and programs are available at the Service Center: Hospice Savannah, Savannah Speech & Hearing, MedBank, Social Apostolate, Ready2CONNECT, Georgia Legal Services, Volunteers Income Tax Assistance, WOMEN UNITED Transportation Assistance and other United Way programs.
Other programs and resources accessible at the Service Center are Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Assistance, Two Rivers Health Clinic, Circle of Hands Counseling, Building Blocks Counseling, Effingham Community Orchestra, Yoga, Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES), Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA), Veteran of Foreign Wars (VFW), Hammers Hearts & Hands, Medical Equipment Lending Library, Diabetes Education & Nutrition.
