Who We Are
The Living Vine serves women in crisis as a safe haven for expectant and new mothers as well as their babies. Founded in 1996 as a state licensed Christian maternity home, The Living Vine stands strong against exploitation and firm for life. Over the past 25 years, we have assisted over 400 women from the ages of 12 to 43. Services are free to all residents regardless of age, background or parenting/adoption decision. Many of the women we help have learning disabilities and have not completed their high school education. They have further been exposed to sexual exploitation, substance abuse, gang involvement, physical abuse and homelessness.
Blessingdales Thrift Store supports The Living Vine and all proceeds benefit the maternity home and its residents.
What We Do
Our mission is to love and serve our residents in 3 simple ways: protection, provision, and preparation. The Living Vine offers shelter and protection in a residential setting. Our full-time teacher and volunteer tutors work one on one with the girls each week. Additionally, our residents are nurtured and developed with the future in mind through our "Women of Excellence Program." This 40 hour a week curriculum provides spiritual growth, job training, home school education, management of finances, life skills and parenting classes tailored to each resident. Retail job training is also available to the women as they may spend time at our thrift store Blessingdales for instruction and experience.
In 2018, we grew our ministry to include post-delivery protection for our mothers and their babies as The Living Vine was granted an aftercare license. The Living Vine is pleased to announce we are now able to serve and accommodate women and their babies for up to 2 years. This exciting new opportunity affectionately appointed "Living Hope," allows us to continue instructing and preparing new mothers in Godly parenting, education and job training. Each woman is now empowered with the confidence of becoming a good parent relying on the Lord and the skills she learned through The Living Vine to succeed in the workforce and provide a loving stable home environment for her child.
