Who We Are
EmployAbility prepares adults with developmental disabilities for employment and community integration. We envision a community where people with disabilities are more broadly valued, hired by employers, receiving support, and participating in ordinary activities. EmployAbility serves Chatham, Bryan, and Effingham Counties.
What We Do
While approximately 58 million adult Americans have a disability, people with disabilities are unemployed at nearly twice the rate of people without disabilities. EmployAbility provides employment support and training opportunities to help empower adults with disabilities in Southeast Georgia.
Once employed, individuals are able to gain greater economic independence for themselves and their families, in addition to becoming a more engaged member of the community at large. Employment allows people to accomplish their life goals, pay their bills, and secure their future; one could argue that these are especially important for individuals with disabilities, who may outlive their support systems, or face more significant medical expenses as they age. Employment for individuals with disabilities also means that folks who are currently disconnected from the economy will begin earning income, paying taxes, and reducing their dependence on public resources.
