Hard to believe it but we are already in the heat of Summer! Spring (if such a thing exists in the Coastal Empire) saw some incredible volunteer work. We logged nearly 500 volunteer hours which equates to a value of over $12,000 to local nonprofits. Looks like volunteerism is really heating up!
If my mention of logged hours has you scratching your head about what I'm talking about, allow me to briefly explain how to log hours on our site.
After you log in, you should see an hourglass towards the top right of your screen which says 'Add Hours' beside it. Clicking on the hourglass will bring you to your Volunteer Hours page. If you have any hours to add, scroll down to 'Hour Type.' This space asks if your hours were completed by responding to a need on our site.
If that's the case, keep the Yes bubble filled and click the drop-down and select the need you responded to there. This will automatically add the correct information and hours for that need.
If you have hours to add that you did on your own, click the 'No' bubble and then fill out the information in the individual Details and Hour Details sections. Once you've finished, scroll down and click 'Submit Hour Entry.'
You're all set! Once those hours are approved, you'll see them in your dashboard!
Logging hours is critically important for everyone. Agencies rely on this information to better understand how much volunteer power they generate, and you as the volunteer can keep hold of this info to quantify your impact on the community (such as a student logging hours for credit, or for membership in a local group, etc.). Though, of course, there really isn't a metric that can fully sum up just how much of a difference you make!
Finally, we are so proud of the logged hours and know that there are untracked hours which we are just as thankful for! We know you are making important contributions and we can't wait to see them show up in our logged hours!
