How to Give

With our Annual Campaign in full swing and the holiday season around the corner, many of us are thinking of ways we can give. The past two years have created or exposed enormous needs in our community and we've risen up to fill as many of them as we can. Now, in the twilight of 2022, we again contemplate how best to serve our community. Regardless of what you do or don't have, there's a way you can make a difference.

One of the quickest ways to make a difference is by contributing to our annual campaign! If you're not sure which agency around town to make a contribution to, let the community decide.  When you donate to United Way of the Coastal Empire, those dollars go to our Community Fund. Community Investment volunteers then work in panels to determine where best to donate those dollars. Taking just five minutes to donate can help five or more agencies at once! How's that for efficiency?

Another great way to give is through volunteering! There are a lot of great agencies on unitedwayvolunteers.org who could use a hand and we expect there to be even more opportunities to help as the holidays get closer. Whoever you're interested in helping, or whichever cause you support, there's a need you can fill in our community. Why not gather some friends or coworkers and browse opportunities that need teams? These projects need all the help they can get and it's a quick way to multiply your impact. Some projects can even be done remotely, from the cozy comfort of your home, so grab your slippers and get volunteering!

If neither of these options has piqued your interest, consider fulfilling an agency's wish list. Agencies across our four-county area have items that they need, but might not have the budget for. Consider getting an item off their list posted on their website and dropping it off. Or, get a group together and have a donation drive! It's the perfect excuse to go stop by a nearby Walmart or Target, and help an agency get through their holiday shopping list, while you get through yours. Similarly, you can create a donation drive at your place of business or house or worship and donate those supplies to an agency that can redistribute them.

Whichever way you choose to give, just know that we here at United Way Volunteers wholeheartedly appreciate and support the care you show for our community.

Happy Giving!
