ROAST, SHUCK, EAT, REPEAT. With celebration in our hearts and the future of Georgia’s coast on our minds, we cordially invite you to participate and volunteer in our 2024 Oyster Roast! This doesn’t miss Coastal event promises plenty of fresh steamed oysters, the best in Low Country cuisine, live music, and the opportunity to engage with Conservancy staff and coastal experts. There's no place like Coastal Georgia. Precious, vulnerable, and ours to conserve. For 56 years your Georgia Conservancy has worked to protect Georgia's coastal resources for all Georgians. At the heart of all of our conservation efforts is Georgia's coast and the people who call it home!
Each volunteer is asked to arrive by 10:30 AM to help with the set-up, for a brief orientation, and for a pizza lunch provided by the Georgia Conservancy. After the event kicks off each volunteer will be asked to work a single 2-hour shift at one of the many volunteer "sites" for the day. Before and after your shift is complete you are encouraged to enjoy all the Oyster Roast has to offer! Volunteer shifts and time slots will be handed out at the volunteer orientation. You will be assigned one of the following roles:
Parking Attendending, Draft Trailer, VIP Area, Registration, Merch, Catering Line, Rovers, and Oyster Team (please let us know if you are able-bodied and able to team carry 50lb baskets of oysters)
