The Diversity and Inclusion team at Gulfstream Aerospace is teaming up to give back to the community and we need additional volunteers to help out on this important project!
The Salvation Army of Savannah has requested assistance painting interior walls and laying new flooring in their emergency shelter for women as well as the emergency shelter for men at their central location of 3100 Montgomery Street, Savannah, GA 31404. In each emergency shelter, there is a central “day room” where clients relax and socialize as well as a main hallway and two dorm rooms where clients spend the night.
This project will help The Salvation Army create an environment where clients feel humane, dignified, ready to overcome their difficulties, and form a meaningful and substantive life. The emergency shelter is the closest thing to home that many of their clients have and the only time where they may find safety and comfort. However, the current wall paint has become discolored and chipped over the years. Additionally, the wood and tile flooring has become fragmented, damaged, and uneven.
Providing brighter, new paint and brand-new laminated flooring that matches in all rooms would create a more structured, respectable, and calming environment for all.
