Make sure you arrive before 7:30a since the road will be shut down for the start of the race at 8a.
As a Finish Line Volunteer, you will play a crucial role in supporting runners as they complete their race. Your main responsibility will be to help ensure a smooth and efficient post-race experience for participants, provide encouragement, and assist with essential tasks like distributing medals, food, drinks, and helping runners in the final stages of their marathon journey.
Key Responsibilities:

Cheer and Support Runners:
- Offer encouragement and cheer for runners as they approach and cross the finish line.
- Maintain an enthusiastic and positive attitude to help motivate athletes during their final moments of the race.

Medal Distribution:
- Hand out finisher medals to runners immediately after they cross the finish line.
- Assist with the organization and distribution of medals to ensure a smooth and efficient process.

Provide Post-Race Refreshments:
- Help distribute post-race snacks, drinks (water, energy drinks, etc.), and other refreshments to runners in the recovery area.
- Assist with replenishing supplies as needed.

Ensure Safety and Well-Being:
- Help runners who may need assistance, including guiding them to medical tents or offering water if needed.
- Be on the lookout for any runners who may be struggling or disoriented and alert medical staff if necessary.

Keep the Finish Line Area Organized:
- Help maintain an organized finish line area by directing runners to the appropriate post-race areas, such as recovery zones or gear check locations.
- Assist in managing the flow of participants, helping them stay on track as they exit the finish chute.

Break Down and Clean-Up:
- Assist with post-event clean-up, including removing any signage, collecting trash, and packing up equipment as needed.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Enthusiastic and supportive personality.
- Ability to work well under pressure and stay calm in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication skills and the ability to give clear directions.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in outdoor conditions.
Time Commitment:
- Volunteers will be required to be present for several hours, typically during the race's final stages and post-race activities.
- Exact timing will depend on the event schedule and your assigned shift.
