Second Harvest is starting our own garden.

Expired

Description

Starting a garden is a fantastic way to reduce waste and embrace sustainability. By growing our own fruits, vegetables, and herbs, we can minimize reliance on store-donated produce, which often comes with excessive packaging or is often unusable. Nurturing a garden encourages a deeper understanding of seasonal produce, assisting in our partner agencies to provide fresh fruit and vegetables to the community. Not only does this practice cut down on food waste, but it also fosters a more mindful approach to consumption, promoting a healthier, eco-friendly lifestyle.

Can you work outside with garden tools, then we would love to have you volunteer with us:

Shovels, Trowels, Rakes, Gloves, Wheelbarrows.

The garden tasks will take place outside, so volunteers are strongly encouraged to prepare to wear comfortable clothes, hat, bring sunscreen, bug spray & gardening gloves/tools. Please expect some outdoor work in the heat. Water will be provided if needed.
