Supports the well-being of Day Center visitors by assisting kitchen staff with a variety of tasks to ensure Grace House kitchen and dining area are well-run and available to support the needs of Day Center visitors.
TASKS: Some or all of the following tasks may be required:
- Assist with basic food preparation, including chopping and dicing large quantities (i.e. 50 lb. bags), and food packaging.
- Assisting kitchen personnel with line service
- Maintaining safe and sanitary food handling and service procedures
- Serving clients in a pleasant, courteous, and professional manner
- Cleaning the kitchen and dining area before and after food service
- Emptying and changing trash receptacles during and after meal service
Qualifications:

Compassion and Empathy: A deep understanding and empathy for individuals experiencing homelessness, with the ability to interact with them in a compassionate and non-judgmental manner

Flexibility and Adaptability: Willingness to adapt to the diverse and dynamic needs of the homeless population and be flexible in assisting with various tasks.

Patience: Ability to remain patient and understanding when dealing with challenging situations or individuals in distress.

Team Player: Willingness to work collaboratively with other volunteers and center staff to create a positive and supportive environment.

Cultural Sensitivity: Respect for the diverse backgrounds and experiences of homeless individuals and the ability to interact sensitively with people from different cultures and communities.

Reliability: Commitment to fulfilling scheduled volunteer shifts and responsibilities consistently.
